Auction Rules
Exactly how bidding, timing, pricing and payment work on Prime Arena — the same rules the server enforces on every bid.
Bid amounts and increments
Every bid must be a whole number of euros, at least the minimum shown on the lot. The minimum is the current price plus the increment for that price range — the first bid on a lot may equal its starting price. The increment table is fixed and cannot be changed per lot:
| Current price from | Up to | Increment |
|---|---|---|
| € 0 | € 79 | € 5 |
| € 80 | € 199 | € 10 |
| € 200 | € 299 | € 20 |
| € 300 | € 499 | € 30 |
| € 500 | € 999 | € 50 |
| € 1000 | € 1999 | € 100 |
| € 2000 | € 2999 | € 200 |
| € 3000 | € 4999 | € 300 |
| € 5000 | € 9999 | € 500 |
| € 10.000 | € 19.999 | € 1000 |
| € 20.000 | € 49.999 | € 2000 |
| € 50.000 | € 99.999 | € 5000 |
| € 100.000 | — | € 10.000 |
Quick-bid buttons offer the minimum and the next couple of increments, but you can always type any whole-euro amount at or above the minimum.
Automatic (proxy) bidding
Set the maximum you're willing to pay and we bid the minimum necessary on your behalf to keep you in the lead, up to that maximum. If two bidders' maximums compete, the price rises to just above the lower maximum (using the same increment table), and the earlier bid wins any tie.
Soft close (anti-sniping)
A bid placed in the last few minutes of an auction (the exact window is shown on the lot page) extends the end time by the same amount, so a last-second bid can never shut other bidders out. This can repeat for as long as new bids keep arriving in that window.
Who can bid
You need a verified account with a complete profile (including a saved address) before you can place a bid. Sellers cannot bid on their own listings, and accounts with an unpaid order or a suspension cannot bid until that's resolved.
Currency
Every auction is binding in euros. You can browse and bid in your preferred display currency for convenience — it's converted to euros at the day's exchange rate when you submit — but the amount actually charged is always the euro amount confirmed at checkout.
Final price
If you win, your total is the winning bid plus any buyer's premium, VAT and shipping that apply — shown in full on your order before you pay. These are never estimated or calculated in your browser; the amount you see at checkout is the amount you're charged.
Payment
You'll get a payment window shown on your order, with reminders as it gets closer to expiring. If it lapses without payment, the lot may be relisted and your account may be restricted from bidding until the situation is resolved.
Cancellations and voided bids
An administrator may pause or cancel an auction, or void an individual bid, for cause (for example a data-entry error, a fraud concern, or a seller withdrawing the item). You'll be notified if this affects a bid or auction you're involved in.
